4th of July Parade
July 6, 2006 on 10:38 am | In General | No Comments | By: JamesNot sure if we’ve told everyone, but when we moved in we were told that the little Golf Manor parade starts in front of our house. They weren’t kidding about it starting in front of our house … or that it was small. It was nice though. We took a few pictures, which we’ve already added to the photo gallery.
New Jetski
July 4, 2006 on 9:50 am | In General | 1 Comment | By: KristinJames and I took the new jetski out yesterday for a test ride at the Miami River in Hamilton and it worked great! It goes so much faster than the other ones we’ve had. We are going to take it out again next Sunday when we go boating with his family and hopefully my parents too. James and his dad are still working on getting our other jetski working that we got last year.
Site Update
June 1, 2006 on 10:21 pm | In General | No Comments | By: JamesAs you’ve probably noticed, we’ve updated the look of the site a little bit. Decided to go with this look for a little while. One thing to note is that I’ve finally got the Photo Gallery working correctly and looking good. I’m currently in the process of moving the pictures over from the old site the next couple days and changing a few little details of the look. Nothing major. It’s getting late, so I’m heading to bed for the night.
Fighting back the forest
April 29, 2006 on 10:58 am | In General | No Comments | By: JamesWork on the house has been going on even though we have not been posting it lately. I’ve been mostly working on the outside of the house. There were a LOT of trees everywhere around the house. The entire backyard was complete covered with trees. I’ve been cutting down all the trees and chipping them up. I’ve also removed the flower circle thing in the front yard and chopped down all the weird plants in it. Still have a whiel to go before I’m able to get it all done.
Praxis III
April 20, 2006 on 5:07 pm | In General | 1 Comment | By: KristinI just thought I’d share a little exciting news about my career. Every beginning teacher now has to go through Praxis III their first year teaching. Last year I didn’t do it because I wasn’t a classroom teacher. So this year I had to do it since you only have your first two years to get it finished (without a lot of extra hassle). What is it? Well, it consists of meeting throughout the year with a mentor teacher (mine was awesome!!) and having a state assessor come in and assess everything single tiny detail about how you teach and handle a classroom full of kids … all in about three hours. My Praxis III was on March 1 and my assessor watched me teach a math lesson about probability and we had a pre and post interview for me to explain why I taught what I did and how I did it. I was very stressed in the weeks leading up to it because I have a very very very very very challenging class full of talkers, but when it came cruch time and the assessor was there everthing went pretty much perfectly. I finally got my results back this past Monday and I passed!!!!! That means that when I have to renew my license this June, I can get my five year and I’ll be good for five more years.

February 2, 2006 on 7:20 pm | In General, House | 1 Comment | By: KristinWe got a phone call from the window people today so our windows our being installed tomorrow morning!! Yeah! James had fun painting all the old windows the nasty orange/brown color that we had gotten for the baseboards in the living and dining rooms. We even wrote a happy birthday message on the outside of the windows for my dad because tomorrow is his birthday. Happy Birthday, Dad!!
New Website Look
January 30, 2006 on 10:13 am | In General | No Comments | By: JamesWell, since it’s been a long time since Kristin or I updated the website, I decided to change the software that we used for the site. All we really needed was a blog based website with pictures and calendar. I now have the blog part taken care of, and will be working on the rest in the near future. This will make it easier for us both to update the website with what’s going on in our life.
